Two weeks ago I watched a doco about Ukraine on the SBS Dateline program.  It was confronting to say the least and served to strengthen our commitment to this complex country whose children are suffering.  Please know that there are a number of committed NGO's who are providing real hope for vulnerable children in Ukraine and they need your help.  Read about the Ukraine children's projects we are supporting.

Has Ukraine emerged from the former Soviet Union to become the illicit sex tourism capital of Europe?

The statistics speak for themselves… 60,000 prostitutes; 2,500 street children, making it a hub for child pornography; a third of the population in poverty; one of the fastest growing HIV rates in the world; and drug and alcohol abuse rates amongst the highest in eastern Europe.

Video journalist Nick Lazaredes has been investigating Ukraine’s underworld and the social problems it’s causing. He also meets the people trying to stop the sex trade in the face of violence and lack of interest from the authorities.
