Casa Vida, meaning “House of Life’ opened in 2008 and is the first project of its kind in East Timor.

Casa Vida cares for girl victims of sexual abuse, aged between 3 and 18 years.  The house is located in the capital Dili, staffed by expert volunteers from Brazil and Australia and trained local carers.

Casa Vida works in conjunction with the Timorese Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Health and UNICEF.  It accommodates 30 girls who are receiving protection, counselling, education and vocational skills training, enabling their return to life and restoring their confidence and self-esteem.

They are doing an excellent job at providing care and rehabilitation for traumatised girls, but their resources are currently very limited.  Riverview Children's Foundation is helping fund the running costs of the home.
