YES Week 2011

During the last week of October, we rallied our young adult community together to embark on a crazy week of dares, fun and a bit of mischief. That’s right, it was time for YES WEEK!

The reason for these shenanigans was to raise awareness and money towards Empowering Cambodia. We had guys waxing legs and chests, girls dressing up in pink for a week and our very own Youth & Young adults pastor singing and dramatically speaking for a day just to name a few. Everyone was willing to look like a fool for charity and in the end we raised over $5000 towards this amazing initiative. One of our participants rallied his workplace around him and raised over $1000 alone.

We finished off the week with an after party straight after our church service, where we all got to see the embarrassing footage of the silly dares and of course point and laugh at each other. All in all, it was such a successful week and we are already looking forward to supporting another great organization next year!

Cambodia Field Trip 2012

From the 7th to the 21st of Janurary 2012, a field team of 9 people, (including 2 very brave ladies) will spent two weeks working with our project partner, Teen Challenge in Cambodia. Teen Challenge runs a drug rehabilitation centre for young boys and has a vision to develop sustainable projects to support the Centre’s program.

One of their newest projects is the Teen Challenge Women's Program, responding to the needs of women and children whose lives are shattered by various problems including drug addictions. The team will be involved in the development of a preschool classroom, main eating area, as well as a women's classroom and skill training area. They will also continue on the work of the 2011 Field team and expand the existing piggery for the Teen Challenge Boy's Program.

As part of the Riverview Children's Foundation network, we would greatly appreciate your prayer and support as this team prepares to make a practical difference in a less fortunate community.

The RCF organises annual Impact Trips to the countries where we have involvement and there is nothing quite the same as seeing the work firsthand, meeting the children, hearing the stories, and giving your time and skills to serve these incredible projects. Speak to anyone that has been, and you will no doubt hear about the life-transforming moments and amazing encounters.
